The Japanese government's figures released on Monday show that more than 45 percent of residents have received their third shots against the coronavirus.

Vaccination rates are lower for younger people. Among those aged 70 or older, more than 80 percent have received their booster shots. Only about 20 percent of those in their 20s or 30s have taken their third injection.

An NHK opinion poll shows that the approval rate for Prime Minister Kishida Fumio's Cabinet stands at 53 percent, unchanged from the previous survey last month. The disapproval rate is 23 percent, down 2 points.

NHK conducted the telephone survey from Friday through Sunday. Over 1,200 people responded.

The Japanese government has finalized the amount of financial support it will offer Ukrainian evacuees who have no relatives or acquaintances in Japan.

During their stays at government-designated hotels, in addition to free meals, each evacuee aged 12 or older will be given about 8 dollars per day, and younger children will each receive half that amount.
