Japan To Ban Imports Of Some Russian Products Over Ukraine Invasion

Japan is continuing to expand its sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine conflict. The government has announced a ban on imports of 38 products.
The move will target alcoholic drinks such as vodka. It will also apply to electric and other types of machines, including cars and motorbikes.
The ban takes effect next Tuesday. But the government will allow a 3-month grace period for any contracts signed by Monday. It will also permit imports for personal use.
Japan's total imports from Russia last year were worth around 12 billion dollars. Officials say the banned goods made up just over 1 percent of that amount.
