Japan To Urge China To Take Responsible Action On Russia
Japan's Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa says the country will push China to take responsible action on Russia's aggression against Ukraine, in cooperation with the Group of Seven members and other countries.
Hayashi was speaking at a news conference on Tuesday.
He pointed out again that China abstained from voting on a UN Security Council resolution and a General Assembly resolution denouncing Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
He also noted that China has yet to condemn Russia, and even voted in favor of a Russian-proposed Security Council resolution.
Hayashi added that Japan is closely watching moves by China and Russia, which have maintained close relations and stepped up military cooperation in recent years.
