Japan Will Help Ukraine Remove Rubble, Landmines
Japan's government has decided to help Ukraine remove rubble, landmines and unexploded bombs as part of additional aid to the nation and its neighboring countries.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio announced last month that Japan would give 100 million dollars in additional emergency humanitarian aid. The government on Tuesday decided on how this aid would be spent.
Japan will try to secure safe passage of evacuees from Ukraine and provide food, daily necessities, medicine and other relief supplies. These goods will be provided through the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, other international groups and Japanese nongovernmental organizations.
Japan will answer to Ukraine's growing needs to dispose of rubble, landmines and dud explosives. It will also help to restore agricultural production by distributing seeds and through other means.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu told reporters on Tuesday that Japan will continue to support the people of Ukraine and stand by them by working with G7 member countries and the rest of the global community.
