Tokyo Reports 6,968 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 6,968 new cases of coronavirus infection on Tuesday.

The daily tally is down by around 900 from a week ago.

The seven-day average through Tuesday stands at 7,482. That's 104.2 percent of the figure for the previous seven-day period.

Tokyo officials also reported nine deaths on Tuesday.

The number of seriously ill patients who are on a ventilator or an ECMO heart-lung machine in the capital stands at 30, up one from Monday.
