Ukrainian Evacuee To Be Accepted At Japanese Language School

A Ukrainian evacuee has expressed hope for her new life at a Japanese language school in Japan before her scheduled arrival in the country later this month.
Yuliia Chepizhko will be the first Ukrainian evacuee to be accepted by the Japanese Supports for Ukrainian Students, a group of about 30 Japanese language schools across Japan. She spoke to reporters online on Wednesday from Warsaw in Poland.
The group is making preparations to accept displaced Ukrainian citizens as students at their schools and provide them Japanese language lessons for free.
Chepizhko is scheduled to take part in the enrollment ceremony of a Japanese language school in Osaka next week.
She moved from Dnipro in eastern Ukraine to Warsaw. She said it took her 26 hours to travel from Dnipro to Warsaw by train.
In Ukraine, she was unable to take a walk. But now, she can walk until her legs ache.
Chepizhko studied Japanese language at university as she is interested in Japan's anime and manga.
She said she decided to take part in the program as it offers an opportunity to study, adding that she wants to work as a Japanese language teacher in the future and produce songs in Japanese.
