The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee says another 27 people involved with the Games have tested positive for the coronavirus.
The committee said on Friday that the cases include three athletes from overseas. It said two of them, including a US track and field athlete, have been staying in the athletes' village.
The daily count is the highest since the committee began reporting the number of cases on July 1, and exceeds the previous high marked on Thursday.
A total of 220 people related to the Games have tested positive so far.
