2022 Yamaha Xsr900 Gets More Power And A 1980s - Inspired Design

2022 Yamaha XSR900 gets more power and a 1980s-inspired design

Yamaha's big news for the 2022 model year is the new MT-10, but the Japanese firm isn't forgetting about the rest of its range. It also unveiled a new version of the XSR900 with a more powerful three-cylinder engine, updated electronics, and a heritage-laced design.

Like most motorcycles in the Yamaha line-up, the XSR900 was shaped by a unique philosophy; this one is called Faster Sons, and it aims to blend iconic style with modern technology, according to the company. Its design isn't retro in the same way that the Volkswagen New Beetle was, but look closely and you'll find several styling cues that subtly echo some of the Grand Prix motorcycles that raced in the 1980s. The aluminum frame is exposed, and elements like the shape of the fuel tank and the overall silhouette are a tribute to older models.

2022 Toyota Mirai Starts At $50,525

2022 Toyota Mirai starts at $50,525

The second-generation Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is heading into its second year on the California market, that being the only state where the sedan can be purchased for the moment. Toyota didn't raise the prices of the two trims for next year, but has increased the destination fee by $30, from $995 to $1,025. The entry-level Mirai XLE starts at $50,525 after destination, the Mirai Limited at a gulp-worthy $67,025, though perhaps that's not bad for a rear-wheel drive sedan with near 50-50 weight distribution, standard LED headlights and 19-inch wheels. The only spec that runs afoul of the equation is output, at 182 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.

Every Mirai comes with blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ standard. Safety Sense 2.5+ installs automatic high beams; pre-collision avoidance with pedestrian detection, intersection support, and emergency steering assist; adaptive cruiser control; lane departure alert; lane tracing assist — which keeps the Mirai centered in the lane — and road sign assist.

Toyota Land Cruiser 300 - Series Gets Life - Size Lego Build

Toyota Land Cruiser 300-series gets life-size Lego build

Whenever a hot car debuts nowadays, the inevitable life-size Lego build follows soon after. Like Nürburgring lap times for supercars, it's practically an expected part of the vehicle launch routine. The latest vehicle to get the treatment is the not-for-America 300-series Toyota Land Cruiser.

The build was commissioned by Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive Toyota importer for the the United Arab Emirates. According to a short video about the project, it took a team of 12 individuals 2,688 hours to complete the 1:1 scale sculpture. A total of 440,000 Lego bricks were used in the build, and the finished Cruiser weighs approximately 4,520 pounds, or about 1,000 lighter than the actual 5,600-pound truck.

Yomper Pickup Like A Suzuki Jimny Mixed With A Defender And A Brat

Yomper pickup like a Suzuki Jimny mixed with a Defender and a Brat

In the UK and many other parts of the world, there's still a decent market for an workhorse farm vehicle that's low on cost and high on reliability. Samson Engineering in Yorkshire, England decided to step into the breach. CEO Giles Walker said, "When I heard from a lot of people in my local community — many of whom are farmers — about the lack of a suitable small utility SUV on the market, I decided it would be a great opportunity to create one." The result is the Yomper, a pickup built in five standard guises, based on the third-generation Suzuki Jimny that ended production in 2017.

As for the name, it comes from the British Marines sent to fight the Falklands war in 1982. They "yomped" overland, strapped down with wood-frame backpacks called bergans, to Port Stanley to fight the Argentinians who'd taken the port.

2022 Yamaha Mt - 10 Revealed With Extreme Looks And Performance

2022 Yamaha MT-10 revealed with extreme looks and performance

Yamaha has made it clear that it no longer wants anything to do with the automotive industry, but it remains a major player in the world of motorcycles. It funneled the lessons it has learned on the race track into a new version of the MT-10, its stunningly quick sport-naked model, and it made similar updates to the even faster MT-10 SP. Both motorcycles will launch in the United States during the first half of 2022.

"MT" stands for Master of Torque, and the firm explained that the model draws inspiration from a diverse selection of sources. One is what Yamaha refers to as "the dark side of Japan," meaning the wild designs that emerge from the nation's motorsport subculture. Another is the YZF-R1, the respected high-performance model that races on tracks around the world. Blending these two elements and ending up with something boring was nearly impossible, and the MT-10 certainly looks the part with angular fairing plus contrasting blue and gold accents.

Toyota Gr Corolla Teased On Instagram

Toyota GR Corolla teased on Instagram

Toyota USA grabbed a lifestyle press image of the Corolla and turned it into a teaser for the GR Corolla that we expect will come to the U.S. next year. The automaker posted the photo on Instagram way back in October, it is now coming to light thanks to the GR Corolla Forum. A few Easter eggs make clear what Toyota is pointing to, starting with the G:16 readout in the instrument cluster where the photo shows a time of 3:30. The alphanumeric refers to the G16E-GTS engine in the GR Yaris sold elsewhere, a turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 268 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. It's the most powerful production three-cylinder in the world.
