Us Tops Gold Medal Table Again At Tokyo Olympics
The United States won the most gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics that concluded on Sunday, topping the table for the third consecutive Games with 39.
China and Japan followed, after both made remarkable strides.
China's athletes will go home with 38 golds, up from 26 at the Rio Games. The host country came in third with 27, marking a huge increase from its previous record of 16.
Among other Asian teams, Taiwan won a record 12 medals, including two golds. The Philippines earned its first-ever gold medal.
Japan took nine golds in its specialty sport of Judo, plus five in wrestling. It gained more in newly added sports, including skateboarding and karate.
Japan's athletes won a total of 58 medals of all colors, which was also a record.
