4,790 New Cases Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Tokyo On Wednesday

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 4,790 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The daily tally is up 723 from a week ago. It is the first time in 15 days to surpass the number a week ago.

The ministry also said six deaths were confirmed in the capital.

The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is 12, up four from Tuesday.

Nationwide, ministry officials confirmed 45,505 new cases and 54 deaths on Wednesday.
