6,346 New Cases Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Tokyo On Wednesday

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 6,346 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The daily tally is up 1,999 from a week earlier, the 11th straight day of week-on-week increases.

The ministry also confirmed three deaths in the capital.

It says 16 seriously ill patients are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, down two from Tuesday.

Nationwide, 70,396 new cases have been confirmed. 70 people died from the virus.
