6520 Cases Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Tokyo On Tuesday

Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 6,520 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The daily tally is up 1,818 from a week earlier, for a tenth straight day of week-on-week increase.

The ministry also confirmed five deaths in the capital.

It says 18 seriously ill patients are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, up three from Monday.

Meanwhile 65,280 new cases have been confirmed nationwide. 52 people died from the virus.
