A number of countries are working to evacuate their citizens from Wuhan. In Tokyo, a plane carrying 210 Japanese nationals from the virus-hit city has just touched down at Haneda Airport. It's the second such flight in two days.

Japan's health ministry plans to expand its scope for coronavirus tests following revelations that two people who had not been to the Chinese city of Wuhan were found to have been infected.

The ministry now carries out tests only on those who develop a fever or display symptoms of pneumonia after having traveled to Wuhan or had contact with pneumonia patients from Wuhan.

The government-chartered plane left for the Chinese city on Wednesday night. It was carrying eight medical staff and government officials, as well as relief supplies such as masks and disinfectants.

Japanese prosecutors have begun searching the office of a lawyer who served for former Nissan Motor chairman Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn, who has been indicted in Japan over financial misconduct, escaped to Lebanon last month, skipping bail.

The prosecutors are investigating Ghosn's flight as suspected violation of the immigration control law. They say those who helped him flee could be charged on suspicion of aiding a criminal in avoiding capture.

Several Japanese evacuees show symptoms

In Japan, around 200 evacuees landed on Wednesday morning at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. Officials say several of them have symptoms such as coughing and fever. They say passengers received medical exams on board. All have been sent to medical institutions to undergo tests.

The four who are showing symptoms have been brought to a special medical institution for infectious diseases.

4 Japanese from Wuhan hospitalized

The first chartered plane carrying Japanese nationals back home from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the new coronavirus, arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on Wednesday morning.

Japan's health ministry says some people on the flight complained of fevers, coughs and other symptoms. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says four people with ages ranging from their 30s to their 50s were rushed to hospital.
