Abductee's Mother Urges Japan Govt. To Take Action To Bring Daughter Home
Yokota Sakie, whose daughter was abducted by North Korea 45 years ago, has urged Japan's government to take quick action to bring her home.
Yokota's daughter, Megumi, was abducted on November 15, 1977, while on her way home from junior high school in Niigata Prefecture on the Japan Sea coast.
Yokota said at a news conference on Tuesday that she still does not know Megumi's whereabouts, and that she is afraid her daughter may never come back. She said she feels empty.
Yokota expressed her frustration, saying she would like to ask what the government has been doing to address the issue.
She stressed that it is a major problem, but only time has passed without any developments, and it is as if government officials are not making sincere efforts.
She also said there will be no progress without dialogue with North Korea, and urged the government to take action at once.
Yokota added that the issue will someday be solved, so she wants the abductees in North Korea to stay healthy.
