Clinic In Tokyo Packed With Patients On Sunday Amid Surge In Covid Cases

Many medical institutions in Japan are closed on weekends, but people are seeking medical help on Sunday amid a rapid spread of coronavirus infections nationwide.
Japan's daily tally of new cases topped 200,000 for the first time on Saturday.
On Sunday, patients started to arrive at Toranomon Nakamura Clinic in central Tokyo before it opened at 10 a.m. The waiting room was fully packed in about 15 minutes, and some people had to wait outside.
The head of the clinic, Nakamura Yasuhiro, says some patients came all the way from neighboring Kanagawa and Saitama prefectures.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio on Friday asked the Japan Medical Association for cooperation to increase the number of fever clinics available on weekends and holidays.
