Details On 9 - Year - Long Murder Investigation Of Gyoza No Ohsho Chain Chief
Investigators probing the 2013 killing of the head of a popular restaurant chain say he was shot shortly after getting out of his car at a parking lot in front of the headquarters of the firm, Ohsho Food Service, in Kyoto City.
Ohigashi Takayuki was shot by a 25-caliber gun at point-blank range, with four bullets hitting his chest and abdomen.
A large amount of cash was left untouched in his car, which led investigators to rule out robbery as the motive of the attack. They believe the perpetrator was accustomed to handling a gun and likely ambushed Ohigashi after closely monitoring his daily routine.
DNA collected from cigarette butts found near the murder scene matched that of a senior member of the Kudo-kai crime syndicate, based in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Police tried to trace his activities, but failed to find any evidence proving his involvement or any links connecting him or his organization with the victim or his firm.
Investigators suspect the perpetrator may have attacked Ohigashi at the request of someone else.
