Japan Self - Defense Forces Conclude Airlift Of Un Aid To Ukraine's Neighbors

Japan says it has ended a Self-Defense Forces humanitarian mission to airlift aid supplies to countries accommodating evacuees from Ukraine.
The mission was conducted upon request from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to transport supplies it had stored in the United Arab Emirates.
The Defense Ministry said on Friday the airlift was carried out as planned from May 1 to June 27.
It said eight flights of its Self-Defense Forces planes delivered 103 tons of blankets, tarps, solar-powered lanterns and utensils to Poland and Romania.
Japan endorsed the contribution as a humanitarian relief operation in line with the country's International Peace Cooperation Act.
The Defense Ministry says it will continue working with other countries to assist displaced people from Ukraine.
