Matsuno: Govt. To Be Fully Prepared For G - 7 Summit Next Year

Japan's top government spokesperson has indicated that the government will be fully prepared for the Group of Seven summit meeting scheduled for next year in the city of Hiroshima.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu told reporters on Friday that the government will do its utmost to boost security as the host of the summit meeting.
Matsuno said the ongoing review by the National Police Agency on security arrangements during the fatal shooting of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo should be taken into consideration in drawing up security plans.
He quoted Ninoyu Satoshi, chairperson of the National Public Safety Commission, as saying during a Cabinet meeting earlier in the day that police officers nationwide will work together to enhance security in response to Abe's fatal shooting, with the understanding and cooperation of the public.
Meanwhile, the National Police Agency set up a special task force on Friday to prepare for building security arrangements for the G7 summit meeting. Officials said the NPA plans to take into account the outcome of the review in drawing up the plans to ensure the safety of participants and venues.
