Mitsubishi Motors To Resume Sales Of Commercial Evs To Public
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors says it will resume sales of commercial electric vehicles to the public. The move comes amid growing demand for EVs.
Mitsubishi started selling commercial EVs to the public in 2011 but stopped last year due to weak sales. The company will start offering them again in November as demand has seen a turnaround.
An official of Mitsubishi said "replacing a company's cars with electric vehicles is a relatively affordable way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions".
The company plans to price the vehicles at around 2.4 million yen, or about 16 thousand dollars.
There has been growing pressure on logistics companies to rein in carbon emissions. This has allowed Chinese EV producers to make inroads in the sector.
Japanese automakers Suzuki and Daihatsu are also planning to offer commercial EVs to the public, with sales starting next fiscal year.
