Next Year's Tokyo Marathon To Be Held On Pre - Pandemic Scale
The organizer of the Tokyo Marathon says the event is returning to its pre-pandemic scale next year.
The race is one of the largest in Japan where citizens are allowed to run. The marathon is scheduled for March 5, 2023.
The Tokyo Marathon Foundation decided that it will accept 38,000 entries -- the level prior to the COVID-19 pandemic -- for the upcoming race.
Applications for entries will be accepted starting next month.
But the organizer said it may review the number of runners and its anti-virus measures in the future to handle developments in the pandemic.
This year, the pandemic forced the organizer to hold the race on a smaller scale. About 19,000 runners took part in March.
