North Korea May Have Launched Icbm
North Korea is believed to have launched several ballistic missiles on Thursday morning. Japanese officials are trying to determine the latest details.
Japan's Defense Ministry says a number of missiles flew toward the Sea of Japan from around 7:40 a.m.
One flew about 750 kilometers at an altitude of about 2,000 kilometers. It fell into the Sea of Japan and is believed to be a medium or long-range ballistic missile.
Another projectile launched from the west coast of North Korea was earlier suspected to have flown over Japan. But it was later confirmed that the missile disappeared over the Sea of Japan.
Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio condemned the missile launches.
Kishida called the repeated launches "outrageous" and totally unacceptable.
He said he instructed officials to determine any damage and to properly provide the Japanese public with information. The prime minister said he also ordered a thorough analysis of the launches.
Kishida said one of the projectiles may have been an intercontinental ballistic missile.
