Police: Bone's Dna Type Matches That Of Missing Girl

Japanese police say a DNA sample of a human bone fragment found in a mountainous area of Yamanashi Prefecture matches that of a girl who went missing three years ago.

In September 2019, Ogura Misaki, then a first-grader, disappeared from a campsite in Doshi Village in the prefecture. A massive search effort failed to find her.

On April 23 this year, part of a human skull was found not far from the campsite. Police then found a shoulder blade on May 4.

Police said on Saturday that testing showed the DNA type of the shoulder blade matched that of the girl.

They say that based on the opinion of the doctor who conducted the analysis, the girl is now judged to be dead.

Police also found a pair of shoes and a shirt that closely resemble those the girl was wearing on the day she disappeared.

They plan to continue their investigation into her disappearance.
