Reporters Take A Look At Ghibli Park In Central Japan
A theme park in central Japan that recreates the world depicted in the Studio Ghibli animated films has been shown to the media ahead of its opening on November 1.
Ghibli Park was built on the site of the 2005 Expo in Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture.
On Wednesday, reporters were invited to take a look at three of the park's areas: "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse," "Hill of Youth" and "Dondoko Forest."
The eye-catching "Ghibli's Grand Warehouse" features a central stairway adorned with blue Seto ware tiles and decorated with various Ghibli figures.
In one section of the park, 13 memorable scenes from Ghibli films are reenacted three-dimensionally.
On the sets, visitors can play the roles of leading characters in the films. They can also take pictures of themselves reenacting the scenes.
A play area for children offers a ride on the Cat Bus from "My Neighbor Totoro."
Visits to the park must be booked in advance. Tickets for November are sold out already.
