Restaurant Sales In Japan Up For 10th Straight Month
Sales at Japan's major restaurant chains rose in September for the 10th straight month.
The Japan Foodservice Association says sales last month were up 19.7 percent from a year earlier. They increased in all of the categories that were surveyed.
But overall sales were still below pre-pandemic levels, down 5.9 percent compared to 3 years ago. Sales at pubs and izakayas were about half.
The association says establishments offering alcohol are having a hard time as people remain cautious about dining out or holding large-scale parties.
