Second Monkeypox Case Confirmed In Japan

Japan's health ministry says a second case of monkeypox has been confirmed in the country.
Officials says a man in his 30s from abroad, who is staying in Tokyo, tested positive on Thursday.
They say he had a headache, muscle pain, fatigue and a mouth rash when he visited a medical institution on Wednesday. A test by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed his infection.
They say the man has been hospitalized in Tokyo and is in stable condition.
Officials say the man entered Japan in late July from the North and Central America region. They suspect he likely contracted the virus there because he was already symptomatic before he arrived in Japan.
They say he has not had any close contact with the man who tested positive for monkeypox in Tokyo on Monday.
The health ministry is trying to trace the infection route and find out if anyone had been in close contact with the second patient.
The World Health Organization says over 16,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 75 countries and regions, mainly in the United States and Europe. The UN health body has declared an international public health emergency over monkeypox.
