S.korea: Seoul - Tokyo Flights To Rise To 28 Round Trips A Week

South Korea's transport ministry says flights between Seoul's Gimpo and Tokyo's Haneda airports will be increased to up to 28 round trips a week.
The ministry on Tuesday announced it reached an agreement with Japan to expand flights. The change takes effect next Monday.
Eight round trips a week have been available between the airports since late June when flights resumed. Services had been suspended since 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is aiming to improve ties with Japan, had advocated resuming flights to make it easier for people from South Korea and Japan to meet.
The flight increase will enable Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to make one round trip a day. The carriers are expected to monitor demand and consider whether to increase their flights.
South Korean ministry officials say they hope people from South Korea and Japan will meet more to deepen their ties.
