Tokyo, Bangkok Sign Deal To Boost Thai Manufacturing
Japan and Thailand have inked a deal to improve skill levels in Thai manufacturing.
The two countries will develop human resources capable of using digital technologies to tackle issues such as production inefficiencies.
Japanese Industry Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi and his Thai counterpart Suriya Jungrungreangkit exchanged documents at a jointly hosted manufacturing seminar in Bangkok.
Nishimura said, "It's essential to bring in facilities and machinery, then train people to use them to achieve full digitalization."
About 6,000 Japanese companies, mainly manufacturers, currently do business in Thailand.
Problems with the country's supply chains are driving the push to cultivate the human resources needed to improve manufacturing there.
