Tokyo Confirms 19,059 Coronavirus Cases On Friday

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 19,059 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Friday.

The daily tally is up more than 10,200 from a week ago.

Since July 5, on every day except Thursday, the daily count has more than doubled compared to the previous week.

Tokyo officials say the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is 16, up one from Thursday.
