Tokyo Confirms 28,112 Coronavirus Cases

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 28,112 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday.

The daily tally is up 10,322 from a week before.

The seven-day average until Sunday stands at 24,543. That's up 61 percent from the figure a week earlier.

Tokyo officials also reported two deaths.

The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines remained unchanged from Saturday at 14.
