Tokyo Firm Unveils Five - Story Wooden Building

A Tokyo-based housing company has unveiled a 5-story building made almost entirely out of wood. It's the latest Japanese firm to turn to the eco-friendly construction of business and residential complexes.
Aqurahome built the 17-meter-tall building in Kawasaki City, near Tokyo. The major construction materials and the structural framework are all wood-based.
The firm says carbon emissions during the construction process were about half what they would be when building a similar-sized structure with a steel frame.
Company officials also say total costs were low as they did not have to use any heavy machinery for construction.
The firm plans to make buildings that top out at five-stories to keep prices affordable for owners. It says they can be used for both residential and business purposes.
