Tokyo Police To Arrest President Of Sushi Restaurant Chain Operator
Tokyo police officials have obtained an arrest warrant for the president of a company that runs the Kappa Sushi restaurant chain. He is alleged to have unlawfully acquired the trade secrets of a rival firm that used to employ him.
As early as Friday, the Metropolitan Police Department plans to arrest the president of Kappa Create, Tanabe Koki. He is suspected of having violated the Unfair Competition Prevention Act.
The authorities believe that Tanabe illegally obtained the trade secrets of a competitor, Hama-sushi, in 2020.
Police officials launched an investigation last year after they received a criminal complaint from Hama-sushi.
Tanabe worked as an executive for Hama-sushi before he joined Kappa Create in 2020.
Kappa Create operates more than 300 restaurants across Japan.
