Tokyo Reports 15,834 New Covid Cases On Sunday

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed 15,834 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, down 8,946 from a week earlier.

The daily tally marks the seventh straight day of week-on-week declines.

The seven-day average of new cases was 19,544, down 24.5 percent from the previous week.

Tokyo officials say there were 40 patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines, up two from Saturday.

They say 23 people died from the virus.
