Tokyo Reports 22,387 Coronavirus Infections On Monday
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 22,387 new coronavirus cases on Monday. This is the first time the figure has topped 20,000 on a Monday.
The daily tally is up 9,691 from a week before. That's an increase of about 80 percent.
The seven-day average until Monday stands at 25,927. That's up 59.9 percent from the figure a week earlier.
Tokyo officials also reported three deaths.
The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines stood at 15, up one from Sunday.
