Tokyo Reports 3,809 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 3,809 new infections of the coronavirus on Saturday.

The daily tally is up by 830 from a week ago, marking the first day of week-on-week increase since April 11.

The seven-day average through Saturday stands at 2,961.4. That's 65.9 percent of the figure for the previous seven-day period.

Tokyo officials reported six deaths from the virus on Saturday.

They said the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in the capital is eight, unchanged from the previous day.
