Aerobatic Team To Draw Olympic Symbol For Ceremony

Japan's Air Self-Defense Force says its aerobatic team will draw symbols representing the Olympics and Paralympics in the sky over Tokyo on the opening day of each event.
The team, known as Blue Impulse, from the Air Self-Defense Force base in Miyagi Prefecture will stage the aerobatic flights over the capital on July 23 and August 24.
On the opening day of the Olympic Games, the team will draw the five-ring symbol with smoke in blue, yellow, black, green and red.
For the Paralympics, the three colors of red, blue and green will be used to draw curved lines.
In 1964, the Blue Impulse drew the five-ring symbol in the sky over the old National Stadium for the opening of the Tokyo Olympics at that time.
In March of last year, the team performed an aerobatic flight in Miyagi Prefecture for a ceremony marking the arrival of the Olympic flame.
