Details Of Infected Athletes Kept Confidential

The Tokyo Olympic organizing committee is disclosing only the daily tally of those who tested positive for the coronavirus. It does not disclose details such as the citizenship or arrival dates of the infected athletes and staff.

Spokesperson Takaya Masanori told a news conference on Sunday that the committee believes it is inappropriate to disclose details that could lead to identification of individuals.

He said the committee will respond appropriately whenever a case arises that warrants explanation.
