Global Project To Root For Athletes In Tokyo

The organizing committee for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics has announced a project to allow fans around the world to join in rooting for athletes participating in the Games.
The organizers decided in March not to allow spectators to come from overseas. And for domestic supporters, a cap is planned for 50 percent of venue capacity, or up to 10,000 people.
The organizing committee says videos and messages shared by fans on social media will be edited and displayed at all Games venues.
Videos that the Olympic Broadcasting Services collects from national and regional broadcasters will also be shown.
In areas set aside for media interviews, athletes will be able to interact with their families and friends online.
Videos sent to NHK for its "Let's Cheer for the World," a project to cheer on athletes in their own languages, will also be introduced.
The president of the organizing committee, Hashimoto Seiko, told reporters on Friday that she is convinced that the Tokyo Games can unite the world through the power of sports.
She said she hopes many people will join the project, as it provides an opportunity to take part in the Games and root for athletes.
