Olympic Athletes Gathering In Japan

Athletes and sports officials from all over the world are flooding into Japan for the Tokyo Olympics. The Games are scheduled to kick off on Friday.
A plane carrying more than 100 delegates from the Netherlands, India and other countries touched down at Narita Airport near Tokyo on Saturday. Passengers visiting for the Olympics were asked to stay on board until other travelers disembarked.
The delegates were screened for the coronavirus. Those with negative test results headed to the Athletes' Village in Tokyo and to training camps around Japan.
The arrivals are expected to peak during the next few days.
Meanwhile, drivers in and around the capital will have to deal with tough traffic regulations from Monday.
Police say they will impose restrictions in areas where many competition sites are located. Those areas are in Tokyo, as well as in prefectures such as Chiba, Saitama, and Kanagawa.
The officials say they will close entrances and limit lanes on the Metropolitan Expressway, if traffic volume is high.
Priority lanes and lanes dedicated exclusively for Olympic-related vehicles will be in place at 11 road sections near venues in Tokyo and Chiba.
