If you're looking for a small crossover, and especially if you'll have a family in tow, the 2020 Honda CR-V should be considered a must-drive. Though not especially characterful and certainly not the most rugged sort, the CR-V nevertheless impresses by being impeccably well-rounded. Name a practical attribute, and it almost certainly does it as well or better than its competitors. Space, fuel economy, performance, safety, quality and value are all prime reasons to consider it, while one can't ignore Honda's sterling reputation for reliability. For 2020, the CR-V also gains a new hybrid powertrain, with a mix of fuel economy and performance that could make it the smartest pick of an already smart bunch.

The CR-V gets its first major update since being completely redesigned for 2017. The base LX trim level now comes standard with the 1.5-liter turbo engine previously standard on every other trim – the previous base 2.4-liter is no more. Other powertrain news comes from the new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid, which achieves 38 mpg combined and starts at $28,870.

Over the past two decades, the Honda CR-V has embodied Honda's reputation for building durable, comfortable and user-friendly family cars that don't require a ton of unscheduled attention (aside from a brief hiccup with transmission reliability). Honda Motor Co will temporarily cut back production in Japan due to difficulty in sourcing parts from China amid the coronavirus outbreak, Nikkei Asian Review reported on Monday citing sources at auto parts suppliers and dealers.

The cutbacks, which will last for a few days beginning early March, will see a reduction in output by a few hundred vehicles at two plants in Saitama Prefecture, the report said.

The new 2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid will arrive in dealerships across U.S. on March 1, featuring a similar electrified powertrain with the Accord Hybrid.

The S2000's long-rumored successor is nowhere to be found. Instead, Honda is helping owners keep their aging drop-tops on the road by relaunching production of hard-to-find parts. And it's inviting enthusiasts to chime in.

Manufactured from 1999 to 2009, the S2000 became an instant classic that remains highly sought-after even a decade after it retired. Honda will close its manufacturing plant in the Philippines next month as part of a global restructuring plan.

The Philippine unit of Honda said on Saturday its production facility will shut down next month, as the Japanese automaker struggles to shore up global automobile operations.

Pricing is out for the 2020 Honda Civic Type R, and it has crept up a bit from last year. The new base price is $37,950, which is an increase of $695. Considering the amount of additional features and updates made to the Type R, that's a fairly reasonable up-charge.

Among the feature additions is the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver aids. It includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. The styling has been tweaked to downplay some of the fake vent openings as well as opening up the main grille for improved cooling. There are several mechanical updates including new two-piece front brake rotors that weigh a total of five pounds less, and Honda claims they provide better feel. The shocks have been retuned and stiffer bushings fitted. There's even a data logging tool that will be available as a phone app later this year.

You may find it hard to believe, but the tenth-generation Honda Accord had its Japanese premiere in late October 2019 at the Tokyo Motor Show – more than two years after its world debut in U.S. specification.

The 2020 Honda Civic Type R gets a number of updates over the previous model, plus a wild special edition, but one that Honda just announced is actually for your phone. The company is launching a phone app called LogR that will record vehicle data when you're at a track.

The app connects with the car's on-board computer to display and record various, well, data. The most basic function is as an auxiliary instrument panel displayed on the infotainment screen. It can show oil, water and intake temperatures, oil and boost pressure, and lateral and longitudinal g forces.
