Facetime Will Finally Be Coming To Windows And Android

FaceTime Will Finally Be Coming To Windows And Android

For the longest time ever, FaceTime was pretty much exclusive to all iOS and macOS devices. Want to FaceTime with a friend? They don’t have an iOS or macOS device? Too bad. Or at least that was the case until today. At WWDC 2021, Apple has announced that FaceTime will finally be coming to Windows and Android devices.

Now before you get too excited, Apple isn’t creating a FaceTime app for these platforms. Instead, what Apple is doing is that they’re allowing FaceTime users to create a link that when opened on the web either on your desktop browser or Android browser will let you join in on a FaceTime call.

Nintendo Switch Pro Listing Spotted On Amazon

Nintendo Switch Pro Listing Spotted On Amazon

Recently, there was a rumor suggesting that a new Nintendo Switch Pro could be launching this September. We can’t say for sure if the rumors are true or are even credible, but a report from MySmartPrice has revealed that Amazon might have let the cat out of the bag a bit earlier than expected.

The report claims that there was a listing on Amazon Mexico for the Nintendo Switch Pro, but it was deleted shortly after. It is possible that the listing could have been made in error and that someone made a typo. The alternative is that the console does exist and that someone might have let it slip too early.

The Sony Ps5 Dualsense Controller Can Buzz Along To Music

The Sony PS5 DualSense Controller Can Buzz Along To Music

However, it turns out that the PS5 DualSense controllers can actually be used to buzz along to music. This is according to a report from The Verge who stumbled across a Reddit post from last year where with a few tweaks, you could actually get the controller to buzz along to your favorite tunes.

We’re not sure if this was by design, but the user who discovered it did so by accident. According to u/Dino1482, “Sorry if this was already discovered, but when I plugged my dualsense controller into my PC, I noticed my speaker output changed to the controller. I thought this was odd, so I decided to play music from Spotify, and the dualsense essentially acted as a subwoofer, picking up the bass and vibrating along with the music. Depending on the song, the vibrations dynamically shifted from left to right.”

Throughout the years, the space agencies of various countries have sent rovers into space where they are used to help scout the surfaces of the places they land on, whether it be the moon or other planets like Mars. For the most part, these rovers look like miniaturized four wheel drives, but Japan could have a different approach.

Sony Wants To Change The Way We Play Our Instruments

Sony Wants To Change The Way We Play Our Instruments

If you’ve ever played the guitar, you might be familiar with the whammy bar. For those who aren’t familiar, it’s basically a bar that sits on the bridge of the guitar that when pressed down or pulled up, will cause the guitar’s sounds to change and create a vibrating-like effect that guitarists use for texture and to enhance their solos.

It seems that Sony wants to take this concept but apply it to all kinds of instruments, and this will come in the form of a gadget called Motion Sonic. This is a wearable that you wear on your wrist that will allow musicians to warp the sound of their instruments through a variety of motions and gestures.

Sony Wants To Bring Its Playstation Games Onto Mobile

Sony Wants To Bring Its PlayStation Games Onto Mobile

Sony’s games are almost exclusive to its PlayStation platform. The company has dabbled in mobile games in the past and even launched devices like the Xperia Play, but it never quite worked out. We’re not sure if maybe it wasn’t the right time or maybe it wasn’t the right games, but Sony wants to try again.

During an investor relations session, Sony Interactive Entertainment president and CEO Jim Ryan revealed the company’s plans to bring some of its major PlayStation franchises over onto mobile devices. He cites how the company has had its fair share of success when they brought some titles over onto PC, so moving to mobile will be their next step.

New Nintendo Switch Could Launch This September

New Nintendo Switch Could Launch This September

Every year without fail we get some kind of rumor about a new and upgraded Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo also never fails to shut those rumors down, so you can see why we’re a bit skeptical of this new report from Bloomberg which claims that the new Nintendo Switch could be launching as soon as this September.

The report goes on to claim that the announcement of the console could take place at E3 2021 which would allow developers to show off their games for the console. This new model, dubbed the Nintendo Switch Pro, is expected to be priced more than the current Switch at $299, but that shouldn’t be surprising if the rumors about it using a new mini LED display are true.

Playstation Now Will Now Support 1080p Streams

PlayStation Now Will Now Support 1080p Streams

One of the upsides of streaming games is that it removes a lot of the bottlenecks in terms of hardware requirements. However, since the content streamed is a lot of data, to ensure a smooth streaming experience, companies have had to scale down the resolution of games where in some cases, streamed games are capped at 720p.

This is obviously less than ideal, but the good news for Sony PlayStation Now gamers is that it looks like the company is upgrading its streams. The company has announced that they have started to roll out support for 1080p games. The company notes that they have begun rolling out support for 1080p games and will continue to roll it out to other countries and regions over the coming weeks.

Don't Expect To See Microsoft's Xcloud On The Nintendo Switch

Don't Expect To See Microsoft's xCloud On The Nintendo Switch

Microsoft is looking to bring its xCloud game streaming service to various platforms, even iOS which is impressive given how restrictive Apple has been with regards to game streaming. This has led to some to wonder if maybe Microsoft could also bring xCloud onto competing gaming consoles, like that of the Nintendo Switch.

Unfortunately for gamers, that will be a no-go. This is according to Astrics Advisory Japan founder David Gibson who tweeted that he was told by Nintendo that they will not be putting other game streaming services on the Switch. It is possible that maybe down the road, Microsoft and Nintendo could forge a partnership that would change that, but for now, don’t count on it.

Sony's Playstation Plus Could Be Getting A Video Service

Sony's PlayStation Plus Could Be Getting A Video Service

This is according to a report from VGC in which they discovered a logo posted onto Sony’s PlayStation Polish website (see above) that suggests that a video service could soon be part of your subscription. The description, which was originally posted in Polish, read, “A new benefit available for a limited time on PlayStation Plus… PS Plus Video Pass is a trial service active 22.04.21 – 22.04.22. The subscription benefit is available to PS Plus users in Poland.”

However, Sony has since removed the logo and the description, suggesting that maybe this is an upcoming feature that they have yet to officially announce. What’s interesting about this is that it seems to be kind of like a change of heart from Sony. The company had previously stated that the PlayStation Store would stop selling/renting TV shows and movies, so this feature suggests that it could be coming back albeit in a different form.

Sony Changes Their Mind, Won't Shut Down Ps3 Or Ps Vita Stores

Sony Changes Their Mind, Won't Shut Down PS3 Or PS Vita Stores

However, it seems that Sony’s decision, while it made sense, was not particularly well-received in the community, leading to an outcry of support for the PS3 and PS Vita. So much so that the company has since been convinced to keep both the stores open, although it seems that this won’t apply to the PSP whose store will shut down on the 2nd of July, 2021 as previously planned.

According to Sony, “When we initially came to the decision to end purchasing support for PS3 and PS Vita, it was born out of a number of factors, including commerce support challenges for older devices and the ability for us to focus more of our resources on newer devices where a majority of our gamers are playing on. We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations.”

Sony Ps5 Update Adds Support For 120hz Displays

Sony PS5 Update Adds Support For 120Hz Displays

It should be noted that the PS5 already supports 120Hz refresh rate displays, but that support is mostly exclusive to select TVs and not computer monitors. According to Sony’s update, “Some PC monitors that can display 1080p/120 Hz now support 120 Hz display for games. If you’re having trouble viewing your game at 120 Hz, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output, and then turn off Enable 120 Hz Output.”

In addition to supporting 120Hz on 1080p displays, the update will also introduce two new HDMI controls in the console’s settings. One of which is the one-touch play feature which basically turns on a connected TV when you power up the PS5 and switch to the correct input. Then there is also the toggle power off feature that puts the PS5 into rest mode when you turn off the TV connected to the console.
