Virus - Related Ordinance To Be Enforced Saturday

Japan's government is fast-tracking the enactment of an ordinance that designates pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus as an infectious disease. It will go into force on Saturday.
The government approved the legislation this week for enactment on February 7.
But it decided on Friday to move the schedule forward.
The designation will allow the authorities to take such measures as forcibly hospitalizing patients under the country's infectious disease and quarantine laws.
