What The Heck? Honda Civic Filmed Driving On Its Rim Down New Jersey Interstate

If you were driving down the highway and one of the rear tires of your car went flat, you would pull over, right? Well, the driver of this Honda Civic just kept driving.

This clip was filmed on October 19 in Whippany, New Jersey along Interstate 287 and shows a lady driving down the highway at 60 mph (96 km/h) on the rim of the driver’s side rear wheel.

The video doesn’t show the moment the tire exploded, but based on the damage caused to the rear left of the car, it seems apparent that it didn’t just tear off a corner of the rear bumper but also appears to have damaged the wheel arch.

Seeing the Civic cruising down the highway on its rim clearly left the truck driver filming this clip flabbergasted – and we don’t blame him, as it is a truly bizarre sight.

How could the owner of the Honda think it was a good idea to not stop? One possibility is that the woman was simply unaware of the fact that she was driving on the rim of the Honda. As difficult as that is to believe, we’ve all seen motorists out there that are blissfully unaware of what’s going on around them. Alternatively, there’s the possibility she simply decided it was worth the risk trying to drive on the rim rather than stopping and putting on a spare or calling for a tow truck.
